|Dirty Face Creek Farm Organics|
Dirty Face Creek Farm is a family-owned, USDA certified organic farm located just outside of Hills, Iowa, 10 miles from the heart of Iowa City. We have been raising a wide variety of organic produce since 2005, with a focus on open-pollinated and unique heirloom varieties, water conservation, soil health and biodiversity. Some of the cultural practices that we implement on the farm include permanent raised and mulched beds, placing beds on contour, cover-cropping, and utilizing living mulch. Along with growing produce, we also raise Angora goats, sheep, and llama for fleece and compost production.
We hold a strong commitment to clean soil and water conservation, and aim to help create progress to clean-up in our surrounding area. One day we will be able to pronounce "Dirty Face Creek Ain't Dirty No More!"
Dirty Face Creek Farm acquired its name from the nearby creek, apparently called that because of the dirty faces often found on the children of an early settler family in the region.
